Brockville, Ontario was called Elizabethtown. The area was first settled by English speakers in 1785, when Americans who had remained loyal to the crown fled to Canada after the American Revolution.

The name Lapointe is a dit name. It could have been a nickname for a soldier (the point of a lance) or for a family who lived on a point of land.

Florentine (Florence) Lapointe Wickware was born about 1820 In Canada. She was probably Rachael Lapointe's sister or another close relative.

On May 21, 1839, Archibald Mallory (son of Lemuel Mallory) and Florantine Lapointe witnessed the Johnston District marriage of Northrop Lamkens Baxter to Polly Comstock Haige.

On April 19, 1841 Florence married Alpheus Wickware. Their children and life together are described in detail on Alpheus' page.
